Immigration Lawyer for Lubbock County, Texas

Lubbock County · Immigration Law

The office is in
Lubbock County.
The interview isn't.

You've been in this county a long while. The kids came up through Lubbock-Cooper, you know which stretch of Loop 289 backs up at five, and the green card is still sitting in a drawer where you put it.

Most of the firms that come up when you search this aren't here. One will ask a Lubbock reader to call a 202 area code. You're not trying to learn immigration law. You're trying to work out who's real.

Start with something checkable.

The plain-English answer for Lubbock County

Naturalization is how a permanent resident becomes a U.S. citizen. If you live anywhere in Lubbock County, from Shallowater down to Ransom Canyon, your case runs through the same federal office, and that office is not in Texas.

  • Under INA § 316(a), the five-year route needs five years of continuous residence, 913 days of physical presence, and three months in this district before filing.
  • Married to a citizen? INA § 319(a) cuts that to three years and 548 days, if the marriage holds the whole time.
Pro tip for Lubbock CountyFingerprints across town, interview in another state. Biometrics are at the Lubbock Application Support Center, 3502 Slide Road. The examination is at the USCIS Oklahoma City Field Office in Edmond, 361 miles north. Lubbock sits in the Dallas district, an administrative label, not a place you'll drive to.

We've already made the drive.

From anywhere in the county the route is the same. North on Interstate 27, past Mackenzie Park, about six and a half hours. People assume a case like this gets heard at the Lubbock County Courthouse on Broadway. It doesn't. Nothing in your federal file passes through that building, and two firms ranking above us publish the wrong federal office anyway. One says Dallas. One says San Antonio.

When USCIS resumes a personal investigation the people they may talk to are your landlord, your employer and the parents you stand next to at Lubbock-Cooper pickup, and in New Deal or Idalou that's a different set of witnesses than a Dallas firm is picturing.

The county the office is actually in

This is the one county on this website where there is no drive. The office is at 2405 20th Street, inside Lubbock County, and the Application Support Center on Slide Road is about seven minutes from the front door. That convenience is also the reason people here wait longest. When the lawyer is fifteen minutes away there is never a forcing deadline, and a file that could have been read in 2019 gets read in 2026 with six more years of history in it.

Slaton, Wolfforth, Shallowater and Idalou are all inside the same county line and the same jurisdiction, so a family in Idalou and a family on 19th Street get the same two appointments in the same two buildings. Nothing about your case improves by living closer to us. What improves it is opening the file earlier.

How a citizenship case runs from here

  1. We read the file before you file anything. Applying reopens your whole immigration history under INA § 318, and since August 29, 2025 a voter registration you'd forgotten about is screened as a false claim to citizenship, which is answered with a Notice to Appear rather than a denial. Better we find that than an officer does.
  2. We count the days, not the years. 913 or 548, counted from your actual travel. Saying "about two and a half years" is how a case gets denied for somebody who visits family every December.
  3. Biometrics stay local. Slide Road, weekday mornings, in and out. It's the one federal appointment that doesn't cost you a day off.
  4. The examination is in Edmond. You drive I-27 north into Oklahoma, and you're never required to bring a lawyer at all.
  5. We build the character record early. Two or more letters from U.S. citizens who aren't family can support waiving the neighborhood investigation altogether. Almost nobody writes about this.

English and citizenship classes near Lubbock County

Naturalization is the one filing here with a test attached. You have to read, write and speak English and answer civics questions, and for many long-settled residents that requirement, not the paperwork, is what has kept the application in a drawer. Which test you sit depends on the day you filed: before October 20, 2025 it's the 2008 version, 100 questions, and on or after it's the 2025 version, 128. A law office prepares the case. A classroom prepares the person.

Questions we get from this county

Where is my citizenship interview if I live in Lubbock County?

The USCIS Oklahoma City Field Office, 3101 Technology Drive, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Every Lubbock ZIP returns that office. Dallas is the district, which is administrative and not an interview location, and confusing the two is why competitor pages get this wrong.

Can applying for citizenship put my green card at risk?

It can, and any lawyer who tells you otherwise is selling you something.

It reopens your entire history, including the original residency filing, and for most people that's uneventful. For someone with a record the risk is bigger than a denial, and that's the honest reason to hire anyone.

Can my lawyer come with me to Edmond?

Yes.

That changes what hiring counsel means for a family in Slaton or Wolfforth. A full day, fuel, often a hotel night, for you and the attorney.

Does one old DUI end it?

No. Two or more in the statutory period create a rebuttable presumption against good moral character.

That's a standard with a defined burden, not a mood. The market overstates it one way and shrugs it off the other, and both are wrong.

Do I actually need a lawyer for this?

Sometimes no, and we'll tell you that.

Plenty of people file a clean N-400 alone. What changes the answer: an arrest of any kind, long absences, a tax question, or anything you're unsure how to answer truthfully.

Lubbock County.
Let's talk.

By the end you'll know whether your days add up, whether anything in your file is a problem, and whether now is the right time to file. If the answer is not yet, we'll tell you that too, and we'll tell you what would change it.
